Step 1: Pre-Wash Your Swags
Please cold machine wash your Swags before use, as the inner layer plumps up & works much better after a machine wash. Hang out on the line to dry in full sun.
We recommend washing Swags with a natural laundry detergent such as our Soapberries.
Step 2: Wash Your Produce
When you get home from the shops, we recommend filling the sink with cold water & adding a splash of vinegar (apple cider or white wine) to let produce bathe in it (10-20 minutes is plenty). Give them a good rub, pat dry & remove any stickers.
Tip: Chop off the stalks of your produce so they can breathe and hydrate better (just like cutting the ends off flowers for placing in a vase).
Step 3: Dampen Your Swags
Dampen down Swags before adding fresh fruit & veggies. Make sure to wring out the excess water. The inside of the Swag should be dry in parts and not noticeably wet. For best results dampen your Swag with filtered water.
Step 4: Add Produce
Add fruit & veg directly into your dampened Swags & place in the crisper in your fridge.
Some people like to use a separate Swag for fruit, veggies or leafy greens. Others throw everything into one Swag. It’s up to you.
We recommend transferring your older produce from the Large Swag into a Small Swag with a specific coloured trim. This way, you’ll always know that the Small Swag has the older produce which you need to use up first!
